Activated carbon fiber (ACF) is the new generation of porous adsorption material which was exploited with the development of carbon fiber industry, and it is also the upgrading product which will replace the traditional active carbon adsorbing material. Compared to previous activated carbon, ACF has no the big pore or transition pores, and the volume of microporous is about 90% of the total volume, the size of the pore is narrow and uniform, microporous aperture mostly around 1 nm, It also has the high plasticity and strong regeneration. ACF has large surface area and fast absorption-stripping, with 20 times higher than the granular activated carbon in adsorption ability and 1000 times faster in terms of speed. In ACF surface, there are various functional groups which have good choice adsorption ability to some metal ions, organic materials and gas. ACF is a new kind of efficient adsorbent.Now most of API production needs to be refined purification,refining process using powder or granular activated carbon to remove impurities. Powder activated carbon and granular activated carbon have the following problems:1. The activated carbon use place environment is bad, and the operator must hurt;2. The amount of powder activated carbon and granular activated carbon consumption is high;3. The content of refined API in powder or granular activated carbon activated carbon high, the subsequent processing tend to use organic solvent;4. The powder activated carbon or granular activated carbon produce secondary pollution and not easy to regeneration;5. The amount of waste activated carbon is large, high cost of subsequent processing.In this report, during the refined production of caffeine, we attempt to replace a part of the powder activated carbon(PAC) with ACF, so as to achieve the refined decoloration. Firstly, we make a comparision of the small decoloration from several kinds of ACF, so that we can fitter the best ACF with ideal effects. Secondly, the appearance of material,which is decolored with ACP, can be compared with which is decolored with ACF, then we can determine the usage method of ACF. Next, we operate the regeneration experiment to make sure the regeneration method of ACF according to the result.Finally, we can ensure the most approptiate variety and usage of ACF on the basis of the experimental results; via the industrialized design, we can ensure the pattern of ultimation, the working life and regeneration method of ACF; we can successfully verify the industrialized production, and investigate the quality of finished caffeine product, and meanwhile we make a comprehensive analysis of the caffeine production cost, in order to make sure the feasibility and economy of the application.The content of API is high in activated carbon; Subsequent processing use organic solvent. The amount of waste activated carbon is large and subsequent processing charge is high. Reducing the production cost, increasing the profit of the enterprise, and improving enterprise competitiveness, make a great significance on the industry development.In the process of refining decolorization of caffeine using activated carbon fiber as the research and application of decoloring agent, At present at home and abroad has not reported. The test for the activated carbon fiber for the first time in the exploration and application of caffeine refining.Through the use of activated carbon fiber for caffeine decoloring, To solve the original activated carbon activated carbon using poor environment, Active carbon powder or granular activated carbon consumption is high, The higher the content of activated carbon in refining raw materials, Produced a large amount of waste activated carbon, The follow-up treatment costs higher a series of problems.
