Fabrication of high-performance fibers has been received much attention in recent years. Because of high porosity, high specific surface area and high surface activity et al., nanoporous fibers are potentially of great technological interest for the development of chemical engineering, electronic engineering, biological medicines, and others. In this paper, electrospun porous nanofibers with antibacterial properties containing silver ions are prepared by controlling electrospinning parameters. And the antibacterial properties and the release of silver ions of obtained nanofiber mats are investigated. The effects of various electrospinning parameters on porous nanofibers are studied firstly. The electrospun porous nanofibers are prepared by adjusting electrospinning parameters to explore optimal electrospinning parameters. In addition, the mechanical properties and porosity of obtained nanofiber mats are researched to analyse the effect of porous structure on the properties of nanofibers. Then porous nanofibers containing silver ions are prepared, and the introduction of silver nitrate is proved by TG-DTA thermal gravimetric analysis and infrared spectra. The properties, such as mechanical properties, porosity and porous structure et al, of porous nanofibers with varying quantities of silver ions are investigated. The results show with the increase of silver ions the breaking elongation of obtained nanofibers increase firstly and then decrease, and the breaking strength is essentially unchanged. In addition, the porosity of porous nanofiber mats is still about 90%. The size of pores decreases, and the number of pores increases. However, when silver content is more than 3%, with the increase of silver ions the porous structure decreases. The antibacterial effects of PLA membranes doped with different amounts of silver ions are carried out using Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus antibacterial experiments. The results show that as the quantity of silver ions increasesin these fibers, the antibacterial effects are enhanced. This indicates that the silver ions content can be adjusted to control the antibacterial effect. And the porous structure of PLA fibers can improve the antibacterial properties. Finally, the release of silver ions is confirmed by spectroscopy, and the relationship between silver ions content and release is researched. In addition, the mechanism of release of silver ions in the fibers is investigated to provide the theoretical basis for future study. The results show the porous structure can promote release of silver ions, and enhance the antibacterial effects.
