Three novel tetracarboxylatocalix[4]resorcinarene-supported compounds,[(CH3)2NH2][Zn2(TCC4A)(μ3-OH)]?H2O(1),(NH4)4[Zn2(TCC4A)2(H2O)2]·11H2O(2), and [Cd2(TCC4A)(DMF)2(H2O)]?H2O(3)(H4TCC4A = 2,8,14,20-tetra-pentyl-6,12,18,24-tetra-methoxyl-4,10,16,22-tetra- carboxymethoxy-calix[4]resorcinarene)have been synthesized. The three compounds were structurally confirmed by X-ray diffraction analyses and characterized by elemental nalyses and infrared spectra(IR). Compounds 1-3 display similar 2D sandwich layers, where tetranuclear metal clusters could be found in compounds 1 and 3.The ions exchange of calix[4]resorcinarenes was reported in our article.Compound 1 displays an unprecedented exchange of Zn(II) to Cu(II) ions with the retention of the framework and the crystallinity. The Cu(II)-exchanged process of 1was monitored by inductively coupled plasma(ICP) analysis and powder X-ray diffraction(PXRD). The luminescent properties and UV-vis spectras were also studied for the compounds. The magnetic behavior of 1a(Cu(II)) has also been investigated.
