Four appliance as forms of the Chinese traditional culture, is the history of craft art history, art and design in our country an important part of. Pen rack has a pen, pen as auxiliary stationery appliance has a long history, its function mainly used for writing, writing painting clearance. This topic selection pen rack as the research object, the time period to the Ming and qing dynasties, mainly from the Angle of the design for studying the project.In this paper can be divided into the origin, social background and its embodiment of artistic features, design analysis and creation thought. Through the analysis of the Ming and qing dynasties society political economy, ideology, aesthetic tendency, process technology and productivity development to study the pen rack shape, material, technology and decorative patterns. During the Ming and qing dynasties is the height of pen rack in ancient China, the most outstanding performance for the shape of pen rack, countless material,creations skill and beautiful decorative pattern. On shape is not constrained by mountain,bionic form, have appeared in the natural with pen rack. On the material, in addition to the original jade, porcelain, wood, stone, there is the new materials such as gold and silver, wire inlay enamel. At the same time in this period pen rack is not only confined to the practical,but tend to ornamental effect, so pay more attention to the beautiful sex of decoration pattern.During the Ming and qing dynasties pen rack for carvers, as reflected in the design concept and “elegant”, “device to carry doctrine” creation idea of contemporary design practice has a profound enlightenment significance, guiding us in today’s design practice of the method.the concept of good ideas.
