Water-base drawing oil is a kind of water solubility drawing oil, which is used to stamping steel. Compared with the oil-base drawing oil on the market, the cooling character, lubricity character and the extreme pressure resistance of the water-base drawing oil are better. The water-base drawing oil can be cleared by tap water, which saves the oil removal process and has the characters of fire resistance and safety and environmental protection, especially for the heavy drawing. A series of viscosities of products are needed for different stamping equipment, for example:the way of spraying, the way of extruding, the way of manual daub and so on. Therefore the viscosity of the water-base drawing oil is an important using factor. It is necessary to build the viscosity model to predict the viscosity of the water-base drawing oil.The viscosity of the water-base drawing oil is related to material types, the ratios of mixtures and the ambient temperature. Water-base drawing oil is a mixed system containing Newtonian fluid and non-Newtonian fluid. It is hard to predict the viscosity of the water-base drawing oil by the existing viscosity models. But we can find the viscosity model predicting the viscosity of the water-base drawing oil better than others. And then we can modify the viscosity model with 90 experimental data from 10 different ratio samples at different temperatures. It will be the most suitable viscosity model to predict the viscosity of the water-base drawing oil.In this paper, the Newtonian viscosity model such as Arrhenius model, Bingham model, Kendall-Monroe model and Cragoe model were chosen to predict the viscosity of the water-base drawing oil. It is the same to the non-Newtonian Roscoe viscosity model and two-parameter ASTM model. The goodness of fitting (R2) was chosen to evaluate the models. After comparing the R2 among these viscosity models with 90 experimental data from 10 different ratio samples at different temperatures, the better viscosity model was ASTM model. The ASTM model was modified with the 90 experimental data from 10 different ratio samples at different temperatures to improve the goodness of fitting (R) to predict the viscosity of the water-base drawing oil accurately. On the contrary, the ratio of the water-base drawing oil would be deduced through the ambient temperature and using viscosity.
