PVC has been extensively used in construction, transportation and many other industries thanks to its versatility, being relatively low costs, high stiffness and good chemical resistance. However, the utilization of PVC is restricted by poor processing property, brittle fracture, bad toughness and low heat resistance. The improvement of its toughness and processing property has received considerable attention for many years, but less attention on the rheological property of PVC.A type of acrylic core-shell rubber particle (ACR) with a poly (butyl acrylate) (PBA) core and a grafted poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) shell was synthesized by an emulsion polymerization method. The PVC/ACR/PS blends were melting by Haake Rheomix internal mixer. Utilizing molten state of low viscosity properties of PS improved rheological properties. Studied the addition of PS affected the mechanical property and microstructure. In conclusion:With the increase of PS content, equilibrium torque gradually decreased and improved the processing property. The G、G" and η* increased firstly then decreased. When the ratio of core and shell was 80:20, PS content was 8 phr, slippery walls of PS showed apparent effect, when the ratio was 60:40, PS content is 6 phr, slippery walls of PS showed apparent effect.Prepared ACR-g-St core-shell modifier melted with PVC. The results showed that the equilibrium torque increased from 14.0 Nm to 18.23 Nm; there are significant shortening fusion times, from 3.80 min to 0.75 min. When the ACR-g-St content was 12 phr, η was the minimum. In conclusion, ACR-g-St toughening agents not only played a role, but also contribute to the processing properties of PVC blend.
