Fine Chemicals is one of the most dynamic emerging field in the chemical industry, which has become an important symbol to measure the level of the chemical industry and the chemical technology in a country or the region. This chapter mainly introduces the features of Fine Chemicals, the classification of the fine chemical and catalytic technology. This thesis aims at the studies on the total synthesis of the fine chemicals, including jejuchalcone A and hydroxyproline derivatives. The new prenylated flavonoid, jejuchalcone A, isolated from the propolis on Jeju Island, Korea. The total synthesis of natural jejuchalcone A was first achieved through C-prenylation, methylation, protection of phenolic hydroxyl group, double hydroxylation, aldol condensation and deprotection starting from cheap 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde and 2,4-dihydroxy acetophenone. The hydroxyproline is a very important organocatalyst in practical application. A series of hydroxyproline derivative have been first synthesized through esterification, Boc protection, azidation, amination, substitution of the amino hydrogen and deprotection from Boc starting from trans-4-hydroxy-L-proline.All structures of new compounds were confirmed by 1H NMR and HRMS.
