Modified polyaromatic oxadiazoles(POD) fibers not only has high temperature resistance, flame retardant and resistance to chemical corrosion but has the dimension stability, etc. The fiber can be widely used in the special clothing, protection products, filter materials, electrical insulating materials, friction materials, and other fields. However, current research on modified POD fibers mainly foucsed on its spinning, dyeing performance research is nearly blank, which greatly limits the application of modified POD fiber. Therefore, study on the dyeing of modified POD fibers and its blend fabric is one of the most important issues of broadening its application prospect. In this work, dyeing process of modified POD/PET blend fibers was discussed. The low-temperature dyeing process of modified POD fibers was investigated and compared with conventional high temperature and pressure dyeing. By selection of dyes, suitable for one-bath dyeing method of disperse/reactive dyes have been found. The influences of the neutral electrolyte and alkali on low-temperature disperse dyeing were discussed, and the influence of dyeing auxiliaries on reactive dyeing was also discussed. And the one bath dyeing conditions of modified POD/viscose fibers were determined. The results showed that the order of the same color effect of dyed modified POD/PET blend fibers was as follows: Disperse Blue 2BLN, followed by Disperse Red 3B and Disperse Yellow H-3GL. Taking Disperse Blue as an example, the optimum dyeing condition of modified POD/PET blend fibers were determined: the ratio of 2:1(PET 1% owf), p H 7, dyed at 130℃ for 55 min. The soaping fastness of dyed modified POD fiber was very good, but the PET fiber was on the average. The optimum dyeing process of low-temperature dyeing of modified POD fibers was: auxiliary 2%-3%, p H 6-7, dyed at 70 ℃for 50 mins. The optimum one-bath dyeing process of modified POD/ viscose fibers was: fibre blend ratio 1:1, auxiliary 0.5%, alkali 15g/L, neutral electrolyte 45g/L, dyed at 70 ℃. The soaping fastness of one bath dyed modified POD fiber and viscose fiber were both good without staining.
