With the continuous development of modern industry, people has higher requirement for the product, the attendant is that more types and quantity of the cutting tools has been used in the production process of the products. whether the cutting tools choice is reasonable and delivery is on time will directly affect the quality and efficiency of product processing. Therefore, the current problem that enterprises need to pay attention is how to carry on reasonable selection and scientific management for such complex tools. A set of suitable cutting tool selection and management system was developed based on analyzing the status of the cutting tool selection and management at home and abroad, and combined with the actual management status of some haian elevator components manufacturing enterprise in this thesis The main work and research results are as follows:(1) The researching status at home and abroad of tool management technology and the current tool management problems in the enterprises are analyzed. Research significance and the purpose of this topic aimed at these problems are put forward, and research framework for the this topic was set up.(2) The modular analysis for modularized cutting tool system in current NC machining was done, and the corresponding coding rules were formulated according to the characteristics of the various modules. The characteristics of parts were divided, and the part features model was established, which laid the foundation for the follow-up cutting tool matching study.(3) The cutting tool system module matching rule base and a kind of cutting tool selection optimization scheme that used grey relational decision was established and put forward according to the problem that tools matching and optimal selection for cutting tools. Besides, a cutting tools intelligent selection method based on hybrid reasoning this paper was proposed, which can reduce the difficulty for selecting the cutting tools.(4) Several key problems of the tool management system are researched, including tools inventory management, cutting tools reliability life management and cutting tool requirement plan management. At the same time, the corresponding tool inventory management method and inventory control strategy were put forward, and a method for determining the distribution model of reliability and life of the cutter were given, then a calculation scheme for tool requirement planning was introduced.(5) On the basis of theoretical research, the system data structure was designed with Power Builder 11.5 as the development platform and Microsoft SQL server 2008 as back-end database. Then a set of tool selection and management system that based on MES and applied to the enterprise was developed, which realized the effective management for the cutting tools preliminarily.
