In recent years, the petroleum and chemical industry has been developed highlyin China. Meanwhile, the production capacity was increased year by year. But in therapid development process of petrochemical industry, it also raised a number ofgroundwater environmental problems. Particularly, the main performance was on thegroundwater quality. Therefore in this paper the prediction and analysis was carriedabout the ethylene chemical plant effects on the local groundwater environment. In this paper, many jobs such as the borehole water injection test, thegroundwater recovery test, the water penetration test, the water seepage test also havebeen carried. Through the tests, the hydrogeological parameters could be obtained, which made the basis for predicting and evaluating groundwater qualitycontamination in the study area. Meanwhile, the groundwater quality was evaluatedby the single factor standard index methd. The results were that the over standard rateof TH and TDS were80%; COD2-—Mn、SO4、 NO2N were60%; Phen and TotelEscherichia coli were30%; F-was20%.This paper mainly studies that under the two situations that if there was seepagecontrol the contamination effects from the project were forecasted. The predictingresults indicates that without seepage control project, the groundwater would bepolluted seriously if the leakage happened, but with the project the groundwaterwould be polluted lightly. Therefore, the seepage control measures were an effectiveway to prevent groundwater pollution. Once the petroleum tank exploded, thepollution halo would expand with the time. And the center of the halo would migrateto the downstream along the direction of groundwater flow. If the effective emergency measures were not taken, it would make a terrible accident which was difficultly fixedand handled.Aim at the groundwater pollution problems, three aspects of the measures weretaken: partitionally prevention and cure measures, establish groundwater pollutionmonitoring system, groundwater pollution control measures.
