The Study Of The Decoration Art On The Fringe Of Women’s Wear In Qing Dynasty

Fringe is an important decorative element in traditional Chinese clothing, itplays a significant role in Chinese traditional costumes. With the development ofthe times, it shows a variety of decorative skill and aesthetic characteristics. Inrecent years, as our country put more emphasis on traditional culture, Chinesetraditional elements are applied in modern design to large extend. Thus itbecoming the hot point to explore and inherit traditional clothing in the field ofclothing and garments. At present times, the investigations about Qing DynastyWomen decorative arts---fringe, which once prevailed but weakened in themodern. At the same time, the studies about fringe’s development, aestheticfashion, and cultural connotation became less and less. Chinese traditionalcostumes reached its peak period in Qing Dynasty. At that time, under theinfluence of Man-Han culture, women’s fringe showed its complexity anddiversity. It also exhibited gorgeous beautiful, complicated pattern, exquisiteworkmanship,.aesthetic characteristics and deep cultural connotation.This thesis consists of five parts, as the late of Qianlong dividing line, based on the Qing Dynasty Women’s fringe aesthetic styleas and expressions,the paper roughly divided into late Qing Dynasty and Qing Dynasty and made acomparative study between them. The first part focuses on the backgrounds ofresearch, research’s meaning, the choosing reason, research status and itsapplications. The second part is summing up the general introduction of fringe,analyze fringe emergence and existence of the background. This part alsoelaborated the cultural meaning of traditional clothing. The third part combinedthe Qing’s social background, economic development, and culture, and thenmade comparison and analysis between the early and late Qing. As a result, thepaper came to a conclusion that women’s clothing is simple and elegant in theearly time; and then fringe became luxury in the late Qing. This partsystematically discussed and overviewed the development of Qing’s fringe. Thefourth part made a comprehensive, systematical, detailed, in-depth analysis ofthe material elements, form elements, color elements, design elements andprocess elements and the other feature, and thus explores its artistic value andaesthetic value. The fifth part discussed the Qing’s clothing innovativeapplications in modern clothing. It began from the perspective of design,combined with innovative thinking, used individual case, and investigated thevarious elements of the Qing Dynasty, expecting to find the direction of thefuture development of the traditional decorative arts from the fringe of bothform and content. And the writer also hopes that by studying this subject,people’s love to the traditional decorative can be aroused, and paved the way for its new development of fringe.
