In the process of the formation of petroleum, which will be affected by sulfur activity, redox potential and pH, and other external factors, So the ratio of nickel to vanadium from different place of origin has a big difference. Nickel and vanadium mainly exist in petroleum as stable organic chelates. The ratio of nickel to vanadium (Ni/V) has a strong resistance to weathering. So it is an important significance to study nickel and vanadium characteristics for the identification of oil spill. But these study mostly focus on the characteristics of single crude oil, yet, while the study on the characteristics of blend oil consist of different species is extremely few. Therefore, nickel and vanadium characteristics of blend oil consist of maritime fuel and crude oil was discussed in this work, in order to provide a technical support for the oil spill distinguishing. In this study, both domestic and foreign crude oil (Middle East Kuwait crude oil, Daqing crude oil) and marine fuel were analyzed as samples. Preceding deal for oil samples by crucible ashing, the content of nickel and vanadium was determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry(GF-AAS), then the ratio of nickel and vanadium was figured out. Fuel-Kuwait blend oil and Fuel-Daqing blend oil were prepared by a certain percentage. The effect of different blend ratio on nickel and vanadium property was investigated, and the cluster analysis was used in terms of nickel and vanadium characteristics. Two period weathering experiments of different proportions of blend oil were done. Each period was 30 days. The influence of weathering on the characteristics of nickel and vanadium in the blend oil was discussed. The experimental results as follows:1. The influence of blending ratio on the characteristics of nickel and vanadium. With the proportion of single oil increasing whose Ni/V was higher, this ratio in blend oil were also growing. The characteristics of nickel and vanadium in the blend oil was similar to in which one kind of single oil with dominate proportion and could classify into the same cluster easily. The significant difference of Ni/V between maritime fuel and crude was verified by t-test. That in maritime fuel had significant correlation with that in Daqing crude oil, but had significant difference in contrast to Kuwait crude oil, which implys the maritime fuel used in this work was refined from Daqing crude oil.2. The influence of weathering on the characteristics of nickel and vanadium. The ratio of nickel to vanadium of Fuel-Kuwait blend oil and Fuel-Daqing blend oil had strong resistance to weathering despite of this ratio showed little change during weathering. The cluster’s situation of two kinds of blend oil had changes in the process of weathering, but the blend oils in which one kind of single oil with dominate proportion were easily classified into the same cluster, and this characteristics was not influenced by weathering.
