Oil spill accident has become an important factor on pollution of the marine environment. For different oil spill situation, there are a few blend crude oil spill cases besides single oil leak. Although China has also carried out a study of oil spill fingerprinting, the identification techniques need to be further improved, particularly in terms of oil fingerprinting database construction. Today, most of identification of the oil spill is dominated by single crude oil, and the study on blend crude oil characterization is very few. Therefore, the challenge of this study, the changes of fluorescence characteristics of blend crude oil was tried to study and discuss in order to provides a technical support for the identification of blend type crude oil.United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, Iraq and Daqing these five kinds of crude oil are collected as experimental samples, using constant-wavelength synchronous fluorescence spectrometry method to detect the fluorescence properties of oil samples. According to differences in fluorescence intensity in 5 single-oil, blend Saudi Arabia-Daqing, Malaysia-Saudi Arabia, Daqing-U.A.E., Malaysia-U.A.E., U.A.E.-Saudi Arabia and U.A.E.-Iraq as the mixture samples before weathering. The effect of blend ratio on fluorescence intensity change was examined under 4 characteristic wavelengths (304±1nm,334±2nm,354± 2nm,388±3nm). For two mixtures of Malaysia-Saudi Arabia and U.A.E.-Iraq, the linear relationship of fluorescence intensity and blend ratios is the most significant, this relationship to the Saudi-Daqing followed by, Because of the distribution of n-alkanes in Daqing -Saudi Arabia and U.A.E.-Iraq excellently linear related to the blend ratio, this two mixtures were selected as weathering samples. According to of a short-term weathering experiment for 30 days, the weathering influence is discussed on change of fluorescence characteristics of the mixtures with different blend ratio.Saudi-Daqing mixture:During 10 days weathering, the fluorescence intensity change of this mixture with different blend ratio was ranged from 20.3% to 30.4%, then weathering 20 days after this, the change of fluorescent intensity is less than 13.6%. Whole-weathering has a little influence on fluorescence characteristics of oil samples with different blend ratio, In contrast with their average fluorescence intensity after 30 days weathering, it is observed that the fluorescence intensity of a mixture after weathering was enhanced in terms of single crude oil with strong fluorescence increase, it is the same as the fluorescence characteristics changed with blend ratio before weathering.U.A.E.-Iraq mixture:When blend ratio for the U.A.E.:Iraq=3:1/2:1/1:1, the change of fluorescence intensity is less than 11.3% during whole weathering. When U.A.E.: Iraq=1:2 and 1:3, its fluorescence intensity ranged from 16.8% to 22.5% during 10 days weathering, then weathering 20 days after this, the change of fluorescence intensity of the mixture was less than 11.3%. The fluorescence intensity of blend crude oil after weathering still enhance with strong fluorescence single crude oil increased.
