Coal is one of the most important energy resource in China. The Huainan Coalfield is the biggest energy base in eastern China. A large amount of gangue are produced during the coal mining process, and the gangue causes serious harm to the ecological environment, at the same time, it is a waste of resources. Thus, the study on the utilization of the gangue are practical significance.The physico-chemical properties of coal gangue were varied among different coal mines and coal seam in Huainan Coalfield, the utilization efficiency of coal gangue is limited. In order to establish the scientific utilization system of coal gangue, various measurements and mathematical statistics methods were employed to determine the physic-chemical properties and trace element concentrations in coal gangue samples from No.11and13coal seams in Dingji, Xieqiao and Xinzhuangzi coal mines, Huainan mining area. Results show that the chemical compositions of coal gangue were various among different coal mines and coal seams. Combined with the physic-chemical characteristics of coal gangue and the application requirements of raw materials, the rational gangue management and utilization paths were suggested. This study could provide important information for solid waste comprehensive utilization and regularization in Huainan mining.
