As a new solid lubricant additive, the magnesium silicate hydroxide powder has many excellent characteristics, and in many friction and wear experiments showed a special carrying capacity. It generates a good anti-friction anti-wear performance protective layer on the metal contact surface is self-healing features environmentally friendly additive has a place.By stimulating natural magnesium silicate hydroxide,that in an alkaline hydrothermal environment, useing nano-MgO SiO2 preparation by specific liquid percipitation as precursors, select a different reaction times, PH value, temperature to synthesis magnesium silicate hydroxide powders. using X-ray diffraction(XRD), transmission electron microscopy(TEM), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), infrared spectroscopy(IR) and other means to characterize the structure of the synthesised samples.In this study.Nano-Serpentine was synthesized by hydrothermal method.We select Boric acid ester coupling agent(P),Silane coupling agent KH-560(G),Stearic acid(YZ),Titanate coupling agent(T),Span 80(S),Tween80(T80)and Oleic acid(Y) to improve nano-Serpentine powder.Then we study the impact on performance of nano-Serpentine powder dispersed in the lubricating oil.Using sedimentation height method to evaluate the modification effect. The smaller the value, the better the dispersibility of the modified samples in lubricating oil.G1T1S1 that is prepared by mixing Silane coupling agent KH-560(G), Titanate coupling agent(T) and Span 80(S) by 1:1:1 is ascertained as the ideal surfactant of Nano-Serpentine.It shows that through the increase of surfactant,dispersion time and dispersion temperature the the result first increases and then decreases. Through sedimentation experiments.The optimum process conditions of G1T1S1 wet modified Nano-Serpentine is:surfactant dosage 5%,modification temperature 85℃,modification time 40 min.Finally, disperising the modificatedinto PAO8, then study friction properties of nano-Serpentine powder by tribological experiment, compared with samples without nano-magnesium silicate, can significantly reduce the friction marks, improve performance extreme pressure grease; make more stable friction coefficient, and the temperature rise lower; nano-magnesium silicate showed a unique self-healing capabilities, the friction surface formed a layer of black protective layer, friction experiments continuous and the wear scar diameter stabilized with 30 h.
