At present, this project of researching for the secondary utilization of industrial wastes to high value-added products has became a frontier subject that has been widespread concern by the scholars at home and abroad. With the physicochemical property of the blast furnace slag and the dolomite mine tailings, over research used the two industrial wastes to make up a basic tundish-covering-agent.During the process of researching, we used the knowledge of Ca O-Si O2-Mg OAl2O3 phase diagram and thermodynamics to optimize a matching program for the ingredient of t tundish-covering-agent by several tests. The best matching program was: Mg O=15%、Ca O=38.18%、Si O2=31.82%,Al2O3 and others was 15%(including Ca F2 5% at least), R=1.67.On this basic, the actual ingredient of the covering agent was carried out. The main materials were blast furnace slag and the calcining dolomite mine tailings, and the accessories were expanded perlite and fluorite. The proportion of the industrial wastes in our basic tundish-covering-agent is 89.61%.This covering agent was used for industrial test of heat-insulating property. That was produced based on this formula by the actual ingredient. Compared with another basic covering agent that has been used in steel production, the heat-insulating property of our covering agent was no significant difference. That could be used in industrial production. The cost of this experiment for preparation and production was cheaper, so this tundish-covering-agent has more advantage to the other one with the same function.
