As one of the latest carbon nanomaterial, carbon dots(CDs) have attracted great technical interest of scientists due to their attractive applications in biomedical imaging and optoelectronic devices, since they were found in 2004. Not only the preparation methods and surface processing are studied in depth, but also their performance and applications. Compared with organic dye and conventional semiconductor, CDs is superior in many fields after developing for years, such as luminescence, optical stability, degree of functionalization, abundant resources, non-cytotoxicity and biocompatibility and so on. However, performance characteristics of CDs are mainly concentrated in diluted solutions, it is possible to play advantages of small size effect and excellent cell permeability, but limited to the only morphology, so that the development and applications cannot make progress further. To our best knowledge, there were few reports on CDs embed in nano fibers with one-dimensional (ID). Aim at above problems, researches in several aspects are obtained in this paper. Firstly, blue luminescent silane-carbon dots are prepared by pyrolysis method in one-step. Then, silane-carbon dots/polymer fibers with low cytotoxicity are prepared by electrospinning. Finally, combined sol-gel method with electrospinning technique, silane-carbon dots/organosilane fibers with high transmittance are obtained. The main contents and results are as follows:1) Carbon dots pre-functionalized by organosilane group (SiCD) are obtained by using pyrolysis method in one-step, with citric acid as the carbon source, organosilane as solvent synergy and surface passivation. The size homogeneity and non- toxicity of SiCD are both fine after analysis, more importantly, great blue luminescent are observed as well.2) The SiCD/PVP composite fibers were prepared kindly by electrospinning method. SiCD can be doped in PVP with arbitrary proportion between 0 and 50wt%. More importantly, the highest QY of fibers can reach as high as 45%. The composite fibers show great potential in many applications of biomedicine because of its nontoxicity and environmental friendly performance.3) Electrospinning conditions of modified organosilane are explored, and SiCD/organosilane independent fibers with great transmittance are prepared by combining sol-gel method with electrospinning technique. Independent fiber mats and individual fibers with fine transmittance (90%) are obtained.They are promising used in optoelectronic devices directly.
