SMFC has attracted lots of scholars’ attention because of it is lower costs than oridnary double room MFC. In this study, the graphene and LDH modified to SMFC anode and cathode, combining with their characteristics. As a result, it is not only improve electricity production capacity in SMFC,but also increase the removal of nitrate in the cathode chamber,which strengthen its real applications. Using modified electrodes sets up the SMFC, then we get open circuit voltage of 0.75 V, the internal resistance of 110Ω. Depending on the power density curve, we can find that it has a maximum output power density of 519 mW/m2 at a current density of 1805 mA/m2. The final removal can reach 74.7%, compared with the blank increased nearly 20%.Using iron set up a new reactor without circuit to research its voltage and nitrate nitrogen. The system is difficult to obtain a large voltage, but can also be removed nitrate nitrogen. The results showed that in 18 days, the rate of decline of the iron reactor system is significantly faster than the control group. But after 20 days, the reaction rate between the two groups gradually tend to be consistent. The final removal rate of 98.3%, but the removal of the control group was 79.3%. The initial concentration of the reaction system for different nitrate removal efficiency is substantially the same. Within 12 days they have the same removal rate with different electron transfer material. After 12 days, it shows difference that the level of nitrate dropped faster with iron. The final carbon removal rate was 87.3%. Nitrite and ammonia will be a slight increase in the whole process, but with the run of the reaction system will gradually below the detection limit. This shows that NH4+ and NO2- only generate a reaction intermediate, nitrate nitrogen reduction is not directly polluting nitrogen emissions into the air.Finally, combined the two-part study to research their effects. The results showed that the maximum voltage in can be up to around 0.7 V. We can find that the removal of nitrate in integrated system is faster than the blank. However, after 14 days, the reaction rate between the two groups gradually tend to be consistent. The results showed that the modified electrode and iron bars have a role in the reaction system. On one hand, it improve the nitrate removal in cathode chamber. On the other hand increases the output current.
