PAE is finding widerly used in papermaking, but the paper need to be placed after a period of time, in order to achieve the best the wet strength. Generally, it need to be placed about two weeks at room temperature to achieve its best wet strength effect. By changing the temperature, time and other factors of synthesis process of PAE, this paper discussed the effects of synthetic conditions on the PAE curing. While adding modifier to the PAE, and then discussed the effect of it.and through electron microscope analysis methods,the curing mechanism of PAE is preliminary discussed.Through these experiments, we get the following conclusions.(1)the synthesis of PAE resin. When the molar ratio of DETA/AAis 1:1.05,the dosage of p-toluene acid dosage is 0.5%,the heat preservation time of PPC is 4h, temperature is 160℃,the best ratio of PPCand epichlorohydrin is 1:0.7, the dropping rate of epichlorohydrin is 0.013mol/min, the heat preservation temperature of PAE is 60℃, the viscosity of PPC achieved the best.(2) PAE is added to the pulp to explore the synthesis conditions on the PAE enhancement effect before and after curing.As result, the best dry strength index can reach 48.5 N·m/g, the best wet strength index can reach 9.11 N·m/g before curing; the best dry strength index is 54.5 N·m/g, the best wet strength index can reach 15.6 N·m/g after curing.When the dosage of U is 6%, the enhancement effect of U-PAE is more better than the unmodified.(3) By changing the curing temperature and curing time, we explore the influence of different synthesis conditions on the PAE curing effect. Under the better conditions of synthesis, the paper is cured at 85℃ for half an hour can achieve the best curing effect; he paper is cured at 105℃ for 20min can achieve the best curing effect.If adding the U-PAE to the pulp.the paper is cured at 75℃ for half an hour or at 105℃ for 20min will achieve the best curing effect.(4) Before the paper is dried,the enhancement effect of PAE resin is not obvious. The PAE plays enhancement effect mainly in the stage of drying, the improving effect of curing process to the strength of PAE paper is not mainly rely on the change of crystallinity of pulp fiber. After curing,the PAE resin not only enhanced the strength of the paper, but also improved the retention rate of tiny fiber in the sheet.The U-PAE resin can promote the combination between the fibers and improve the bonding area of fibers before curing of the paper.
