A TIG Small-caliber Steel Welding Monitoring System Based on the Image ProcessCurrently, in the TIG welded steel pipelines, most of people use the artificial observation and adjustment approach. In order to solve this problem, we propose a computer-based visual processing TIG(Tungsten Inert Gas Welding) weld monitoring solution in this paper. Through the detection of the weld pool and weld deviation, the computer controls the position of the gun, enabling precise positioning of the weld to achieve automatic welding steel pipeline. How to realize the acquisition of the weld pool image, and the edge of the weld pool image processing is the core value of the system which can be effectively realized. But you must first acquire a complete weld puddle image in either way. Pool image getting involved in the process of the image edges, followed with the judgment of the center of the weld and weld pool; Welding detection and treatment is again displayed. Finally, we can realize the control of the welding gun according to the detection of the welding point.The image processing system includes image preprocessing, image analysis, image recognition, finally acquire the information of position of weld and weld pool position. Image preprocessing includes image transform, image enhancement and image restoration, as far as possible distortion caused by noise factors reduce the image acquisition process and reduce the image distortion in the image acquisition process. Image analysis includes image segmentation, image restoration and image edge extraction; Image recognition mainly includes image analysis, understanding, feature extraction and pattern recognition. The edge detection plays an important role in the image processing technology in the system.In the system implementation process, image edge extraction is the positioning of the center of weld pool image edge extraction, as well as the key point of this system in image edge detection. So far there have been several edge detection methods, like Robert operator, Sobel operator, Prewitt operator, Prewitt operator, Canny operator and the contour extraction or contour tracing, using wavelet analysis techniques to extract image edge, using differential extraction of image edge technology, the use of technology to extract image edge smoothing methods are commonly used methods, however, various algorithms results vary widely. After many experiments done by this system, it can be sure that the Canny edge detection algorithm is the best choice because it can not only filter out noise but also maintain the characteristics of the edge detection in a first-order differential algorithm which fit for image processing requirements for TIG welding. Therefore, the selection of the project in accordance with the real situations of small diameter steel pipe TIG welding system which based on image processing using modified Canny operator edge detection as an image of thought is a good solution to the core problem of this project.This project includes image capture system, image processing and analysis system and welding torch adjusting control system, meanwhile, the relevant data to achieve real-time preservation for a query. In the whole process of project research on image analysis and processing is the core but difficult point which this thesis focused on solving.
