Condition Based Maintenance is one of the preventive maintenance methods which plan maintenance activities based on equipment’s status information provided by condition monitoring tech and fault diagnosis tech before equipment failures happen. Welding is one of the often-used manufacture technologies in electronic factories and it’s a trend to take auto-soldering to replace traditional manual soldering for industry development. Currently, a preventive maintenance strategy based on the running time of the soldering device is adopted in our company, how to improve the maintenance efficiency of the soldering device is a problem that should be solved urgently in equipment management. The root cause of auto-soldering equipment failure is found by OEE(Overall Equipment Effectiveness) analysis of the fault data of the machine on this paper, and soldering parameter of auto-soldering machine is optimized by DOE(Design of Experiment). Reliability life of soldering iron is estimated, and then set this as the monitoring point for condition based maintenance of soldering iron. By multiple regression analysis of abrasion data of soldering iron to its lifetime, a regression equation is established to predict service life of soldering iron, and the maintenance mode is formulated accordingly. In actual equipment management, periodic maintenance caused over or short, but using the method above solved this problem well. It turned prevention to prediction and improved reliability and accuracy of maintenance at the same time.
