This paper expounds the preparation and properties of activated carbon(AC) and sulfur-doped activated carbon(SAC) electrode materials of supercapacitor. In this work, Porous sulfur-doped activated carbon(SAC) materials have been fabricated by chemical treatment of the vegetable-sponges as precursors and using KOH and CN2H4 S as activating agent and sulfur source, respective. The obtained ACs and SACs were tested by the surface area(BET), field emission scanning electron microscope(FE-SEM), X-ray diffraction(XRD), transmission electron microscope(TEM), fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FTIR). The electrochemical data were obtained from cyclic voltammetry method(CV) and galvanostatic charge/discharge testing.The porous carbon material prepared through heating vegetable-sponges and KOH activated. After activation, carbon material remains amorphous structure which has oxygen-containing functional groups, and the highest specific area reaches up to 1496 m2 g-1.When mc :mKOH=1:1, the AC show well electrochemical performance, and the best specific capacitance can reach 169.7 F g-1.Porous sulfur-doped activated carbon(SAC) have been fabricated by chemical treatment of the vegetable-sponges as precursors using KOH(mc :mKOH=1:1) and CN2H4S(mc :mCN2H4S =1:1,2,3,4) as activating agent and sulfur source respective. The result specification shows the sulfur content of SACs range from 1.5% to 14.32%. SAC was obtained from mc:mCN2H4S:MKOH=1:1:1 which has well pore size distribution, the highest specific surface area up to 1103 m2g-1, and the sulfur content was 8.32%.The specific capacitance of which can reach 224.3 F g-1 in 6M KOH when current density was 1 A·g-1 and after 10000 cycles 100% of the capacity are maintained at current density of 10 A·g-1,the specific capacitance improve 34% compare with pure activated carbon.
