TC4-6061 laminated composite with the attractive properties of titanium alloys and aluminum alloys is a lightweight, high-strength, hard-wearing, anti-corrosion and low cost material, which can satisfy the special engineering demands of space industry, auto industry, chemical industry and field of articles for daily use. In this paper, the mechanical properties of TC4-6061 laminated composite are calculated by classical laminate theory. The clad sheet rolling process and the microstructure of clad plates are studied by the method of theoretical research, finite element simulation and experimental. The calculation formula for the mechanical properties of TC4-6061 composite plate was deduced based on classical laminate theory. The stiffness, the strength, the specific stiffness and the specific strength for the plates was calculated by using the formula. The results show that with increasing of the relative thickness of titanium alloy layer, the tensile stiffness, the bending stiffness, the tensile strength and the bending strength increase rapidly, the tensile stiffness and tensile strength change little, the bending stiffness and specific bending strength first increase and then decrease. When the cladding rate is between 0.15 to 0.3, the mechanical properties of the laminated composite is good. This article simulated the rolling bonding process of TC4-6061 laminated composite through DEFORM-2D finiteelement analysis software, and confirmed the bonding model of Ti/Al hot rolling composite. The stress, strain, velocity and temperature of laminated composite produced under different rolling conditions were analyzed in order to conclude the deformation law and characteristics of the composite. When the rolling temperature is 350℃ and the relative reduction exceeds 30%, the titanium alloys and the aluminum alloys are bonded closely. When the rolling temperature is between 400℃ to 450℃, the critical reduction of the two alloys is 25%.The laminated composites with good performance bonded interface are rolled out through experimental test of titanium clad aluminum hot rolling process under different conditions and the experimental results testified the the accuracy of the finite element simulation result. observing and analyzing the microstructure and chemical element of the bonding interface by means of scanning electron microscopy(SEM), energy dispersive spectrometer(EDS), we found that the surface film rupture mechanism is the main bonding mechanism of titanium clad aluminum hot rolling, and its special characteristic is that the fresh metal of aluminum is squeezed into the gap of titanium to make the bonding points and realize compositing.
