Liquid crystalline epoxy resin is extensively discussed in liquid crystalline polymer, composites and new kind of liquid crystalline epoxy are key points in this field. From previous study, we could recognize that curing temperature of liquid crystalline epoxy is relatively high due to the big molecule of liquid crystalline epoxy monomer, self-accelerating is hard to control. So many researchers think of adding flexible chain in rigid mesogenic group. We introduce carbon-carbon double bond in previous liquid crystalline monomer. The synthesis routine is simple and the reaction condition is moderate. The chemical structure is characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR. Polarized optical microscopy(POM) is used to confirm liquid crystalline phase transition, POM results also showed that the melting temperature is greatly decreased.Till now the study of liquid crystalline epoxy is in fundamental stage like the curing and model building of the curing. There is little modification of liquid crystalline epoxy and modification mechanism. In this article, graphene is used to modifyliquid crystalline epoxy.C hemical structure and liquid crystalline phase transition ofliquid crystalline epoxy is characterized by FT-IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR,differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and polarized optical microscopy(POM). Liquid crystalline epoxy/ functional graphene oxide composites is prepared and effect of modification is studied. The results show that liquid crystalline properties of functional graphene oxide/liquid crystalline epoxy resin is greater than graphene oxide/liquid crystalline epoxy resin. As the content of functional graphene oxide increases, the glass transition tempe rature of composites increases. After addition of functional graphene oxide modified system could observe bright specks under pola rized light. The bright specks gradually spread to other anisotropy region, as the content of functional graphene oxide increases, nuclear center decreases. When the content increases to a certain extent, liquid crystalline property of the modified system disappears.Liquid crystalline epoxy resin/nylon 66 composites is prepared. The crystalline procedure is observed by polarized optical microscopy, results show that nylon 66 present malta crossed spherical structure. After the addition of liquid crystalline epoxy, the size of spherical structure decreases. When the content of liquid crystalline epoxy increases to 16%, malta crossed spherical structure of nylon 66 disappears, the formal regular structure of nylon 66 is destroyed to a greater degree. After the addition of liquid crystalline epoxy, the initial melting temperature of modified system decreases by almost 33 ℃ which is helpful for further process of nylon 66.
