In our study, anaerobic granular sludge for the treatment of the brewing wastewater was used to initiate UASB. Then we launch the technical study of treatment of Dendrocalamus Membranaceus Munro Pulping and Papermaking Wastewater in this USAB reactor. Our aim was to lay the foundation for the effective treatment of Dendrocalamus Membranaceus Munro Pulping and Papermaking Wastewater.First the UASB reactor with inoculated anaerobic granular sludge was started by rising the ration of Dendrocalamus Membranaceus Munro Pulping and Papermaking Wastewater in the water. After 24 days, the USAB reached a plateau in which the mass fraction of the particle size of sludge less than 0.3 mm decreased to 31.1 % and that of the particle size of the sludge in the range of 0.3 mm to 0.9 mm, 0.9 mm-1.6 mm、1.6 mm-2.5 mm increased to 18.55 %、17.1 %、23.8 % respectively and that more than 2.5 mm kept at the certain level of 7.8 %. In addition, the granular sludge settling velocity in all the range of particle size all improved. By SEM, we observed that the granular sludge were dense and the cavity in the granular sludge disappeared before inoculation. These results illustrated that the initiation of the UASB by inoculating granular sludge required short time and UASB exhibited good performance. Moreover, the granular sludge achieved acclimatization and adaption to Dendrocalamus Membranceus Munro Pulping and Papermaking Wastewater in a relatively short period of time. Then the experiment by adjusting the operational parameter of UASB was conducted and the optimal condition for the treatment of Dendrocalamus Membranaceus Munro Pulping and Papermaking Wastewater was acquired. The optimum conditions for the COD, the p H of the influent and the HRT, the organic loading and the operating temperature of the reactor were found to be 3500 mg/L-4000 mg/L, 7.5-8.0, 8 h, 12 kg COD/(m3·d) and 35 ℃, respectively. Under this condition the average value of the COD, the VFA, the Ph of the effluent and the COD removal rate, the gas production of the reactor was 1328 mg/L,187.1 mg/L, 8.2 and 64 %,14 L/d, respectively. At last, in order to improve the UASB performance for the treatment of Dendrocalamus Membranaceus Munro Pulping and Papermaking Wastewater, the combined process of the acid deposition and UASB was constructed. The optimal conditions for the p H in acid deposition was 2 and under this condition the COD of the effluent and the COD removal rate of the reactor was 2498 mg/L and 52.76 %. Then the supernatant in the acid deposition was introduced into the UASB reactor and the optimal operation conditions for the p H, the COD of the influent and the temperature, the HRT, the maximum organic loading of the reactor was 7.5, 2700 mg/L and 35 ℃,6 h, 10.50 kg COD/(m3·d). Under this condition the COD in the effluent and the COD removal rate, the gas production, the average methane production rate of the UASB reactor was 465 mg/L and 82.07 %,16.38 L/d, 263 m L/(g COD), respectively.
