Computational fluid dynamics, finite element theory and the development of computer technology can help to study the flow field in the process of filling wax injector and with the method of numerical simulation, the filling process of wax injector is analyzed before the practical processing, which can achieve the goals, such as optimizing process parameters, improving the quality of products, saving cost, shortening the cycle and so on. Numerical simulation technology has become a kind of means for scientific researches and guiding the practical production.The main contents of the paper are as follows:(1) The current research state and the tendency of investment casting and wax injector at home and abroad have been introduced in detail, as well as the importance of analyzing the filling process of the wax injector, and overall the topic research contents have been introduced at length.(2) The theoretical basis of CFD analysis software and basic steps of flow field analysis are described in the paper, meanwhile the mathematical model of the filling process is elaborately introduced, which includes mass conservation equation, Energy conservation equation and Navier-Stokes equation. Moveover, numerical simulation methods for the filling process of wax injector, turbulence model and the multiphase flow models have been introduced in detail.(3) Filling mould is established with the three-dimensional modeling software and numerical analysis and calculation of wax injector filling flow field are conducted by the means of analysis software Fluent, including stress field of the flow field, volume fraction, the turbulent kinetic energy analysis, analysis of temperature field, which gets the fluid flow pattern under specific speed. The best filling speed is determined by changing the inlet velocity, analyzing and comparing the wax liquid flow field under different speed, which can provide guidance for practical production.(4) In order to solve air entrapment and trapped air caused by the inadequate venting in the process of filling wax models, reasonable ways of exhaust are chosen and vent area of wax models are changed. On the purpose of finding the best vent area of the model, filling flow field is analyzed by Fluent software.
