The Cd Sx Se1-x@Zr Si O4 pigments applied nearly half-century, and always be regarded asa paragon to all the red pigments. Although utilization for a long time, there are still manyproblems still need to solve, especially in the great change era of science and technology, itput forward some new requirements, such as the particle size, temperature toleration. In viewof the situation above, the author aim to put forward some commendable attempt and discuss.The as-prepared pigments were characterized by X-ray diffraction, CIE-Lab colormeasurement, scanning electron microscopy, acoustic particle sizer, dynamic laser scatteringparticle size analysis, Fourier transform infrared and polarized optical microscopy,respectively.The pigments were prepared via the gel co-precipitation method in aqueous solutionsystem and organic solution system.In aqueous solution, two kinds process of titration sequence, repalce the materials ofsulphur and silicon, the synthesis temperature and atmosphere agent were discussed. Theresults indicate that when the sulphur postpose, it had some benefit on the precursordispersing and made 4.2% particles less than 2 μm, but barely contribution on tinting capacity.The adopt of sulfourea can also relieve the agglomeration of precursor, the D-value of colorbetween sodiμm sulfide and sulfourea are △L=- 0.76, △a=0.72, △b=0.34. When substituteHL365 carbon white for sodiμm silicate can reduce the acid piking holes substantially, the D-value of color between sodiμm sulfide and sulfourea are △L=0.66, △a=- 0.16, △b=0.15 at1100℃ glaze and △L=0.33, △a=1.13, △b=0.71 in 1250℃ glaze, respectively. It hasa decided advantage in high temperature glaze. The encapsulated Cd Sx Se1-x occupy 6.37% inthis sampleIn ethanolamine system, the influence on all properties are discussed, it show that inappropriate concentration of ethanolamine, the dispersion of precursor is better than inaqueous solution, the precursor particle are distribute from 20 to 100 nanometer. The acidpicking holes are reduced along with the increasing of ethanolamine concentration. Whenthe concentration comes to 100%, the holes almost disappeared, but the best colorperformence is at 50%, the Lab value are L=41.67, a=48.64, b=30.32, the encapsulatedCd Sx Se1-x occupy 6.37%, it’s better than in aqueous solution. If the concentration exceed acretain piont, the ethanolamine has negative effect on the pigements due to the organicsresidual. When in appropriate concentration, the particles are distribute in a slightly widerrange than in aqueous solution, but the particles distribute from 0.1 to 1 micron own 14.96%and 25.89% less than 2 micron. This part of particles can be potential applied as a promisingink material for inkjet printing.
