Chapter 1:The source, the physical and chemical properties of curcumin, and the main applications in the industrial and pharmaceutical are described, some limitations of curcumin in the application are described due to the poor water solubility or poor stability of curcumin,Then introduce on the importance of the pharmaceutical industry and some applications in the pharmaceutical industry of surfactant and anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS).Finally,it discusses the research progress for interaction of surfactant with curcumin.Chapter 2:This chapter investigates the mechanism on interaction of the anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and curcumin by means of UV and fluorescence spectroscopy. The variation of UV absorption and fluorescence spectra of peak intensity and wavelength of curcumin, as well as the variation of the microstructure of curcumin with SDS surfactant concentration, illustrates that with the concentrations increasing of SDS,it is different that the interactions mechanisms of SDS with curcumin because of SDS molecules from the monomer state to the pre-micellar state, and then to the micelle aggregation state.Chapter 3:The stable of curcumin-SDS micellar solution are studyed in the different temperatures, time and pH,and the best conditions that curcumin-SDS micellar solution can exist stably are filtered out.Chapter 4:The interaction mechanism of curcumin and anionic surfactant sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) are summarized, and the optimum temperature, time and pH that curcumin-SDS micellar solution can exist stably are determined.finally, the sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) in improving the bioavailability of curcumin and other applications in the pharmaceutical industry are discusse.
