Ultra-high speed machining, developed in the recent decade, is one of the advanced manufacturing technologies, that is one of the four advanced manufacturing technologies. High-speed machine tool is base of high-speed manufacture. In order to realize high velocity and high acceleration of high-speed CNC machine tool, the feed system driven by linear motor is used to in instead of the transmission system of the rotating servo motor + ball crew, realized zero-transmission. Stiffness and positioning accuracy of feed drive system influence on machining accuracy of machine tool remarkably. Investigations on stiffness and positioning accuracy of feed system driven by linear motor are vety seldom presented in the literature because that system is a new type of transmission. On the base of the research project of high Education Beauro of Guangdong Province, The article analyses the influences of stiffness and positioning accuracy of feed system and their variational rules, so that the measures of improvement can be made. The article analyses the component and performance of the high feed system unit driven by linear motor, The control model is proposed and verified. The steady error, system stability and dynamic property are analyzed, simulated and verified by experiments. The positioning accuracy is analyzed theoretically. Experiment method is designed to measure accuracy of positioning by means of laser interferometer in order to find out the factors that make influence on positioning accuracy. The stiffness is analysed theoretically. The research results supply the theoretic base and experimental data for developing high speed machining centers and other machine tool in china.
