| With the development of industry, non-circular section parts have been widely used in many manufacturing fields, in which the piston, a part of automotive engine, is typical.Non-circular section parts are mostly rotating body, so turning is an effective way to process.However, common turning machine can not meet the needs of high precision and high efficiency. Therefore, based on the CNC machining technology and the method to control voice coil linear motor, this paper dedicate to study high precision and high efficiency method to process non-circular section parts.According to the principle of non-circular cross-section parts processing and high-speed reciprocating feed requirements,a new platform which can process non-circular section parts effectively has been designed in this paper. The main improvement and innovation is the design of fast-reciprocating-feeding tool structure. On the platform, a voice coil linear motor is used to drive tool structure directly, a High-performance multi-axis motion controller is used to control the system and a high-precision grating is used to detect the linear motor’s position which will be fed back to the controller to achieve closed-loop control.the shape features of the non-circular section part is analyzed, the mathematical model is established and the machining movement is decomposed. the processing elements and methods are analyzed from the two aspects of cross-section and axial section. Finally,the synthesis model and the method are provided.Based on the GALIL motion controller and the machining method, the processing algorithm and procedures are designed. Since the control system is complex, the strategy of multi-loop cascade PID and the control system of PC+motion controller are designed.On the platform, tool carrier dynamic response test experiment, no-load running track experiment and physical processing experiment are carried. Finally, non-circular section part was processed and the correctness of the idea and the feasibility were verified. |
