Study on Graft Copolymerization of NR Latex Modified by AC and MMAAbstract: For the first time, the graft natural rubber (NR) latexwas produced by using 3-chloropropylene(AC)and methyl methacrylate(MMA). The effect of initiation systems, reaction temperature, reaction time, the volume proportion of MMA to AC,contents of initator and NR latex concentration on the monomers conversion and monomers graft percent of graft copolymerization had been studied. The viscosity, mechanical stability testing(MST), adhension strength, the mechanicalproperty, the solvent - resistance and the flame retardation ofgraft latex were compared with those of NR latex. The effect of the factors on graft copolymerization had been analyzed by using the statistical anlysis of orthogonal experiment.The results showed that the optium reaction conditions were as followsrredox initation system was CHP/TEP, reaction temperature was 30癈,reaction time was 3~4 hours, the volume ratio of MMA to AC was 1. 5, and the NR latex concentration was 53.3%, the contents of CHP and TEP were 0.58% and 0. 36%-0. 72%, respectively. IR spectrum proved that the monomers AC and MMA had been really grafted onto NR. The graft latex was a new kind of modified latex with hight viscosity and MST, good adhension strength, good resistance of solvent and some of flame retardation.
