A novel PVC membrane potassium ion-electrode has been investigated by using calix[4jarene derivatives as carriers, dioctyl sebacate(DOS) or dioctyl phthalate(DOP) as plasticizer and potassium tetra-p-chloro-phenyborate as ionic additive. The results showed that all these electrodes exhibits good Nernstian response charateristics towards K~. Among the three electrodes, the electrode based on 5,11,1 7,23-tetra-tert-butyl-25,26,27,28-tetrakis[o- (ethoxycarbonyl)benzyloxyljcalix[4]arene (electrode I ) exhibits the best charateristics towards K~. The linear response range of electrode I is lO~條0抦oUL. The corresponding slope is 57.5 mv/decade with correlation coefficient 0.99997 and the limit of detection was determined to be 3.16 X 1 O5moI/L potassium ; Its selectivity coefficient is also preferable to electrode H or III , the lOgKPOt~,~~ is -1.69. The content of K~ in Penicillin-V has been determined by potassium ion-selective electrodes I , II and III, respectively, which is consistent with that of atomic absorption spectrometric analysis, respectively.
