Na2CO3 is usually used in modification of calcium bentonite into sodium because of the low price of it .but the effect of the modification is not satisfying .The study of the modification of calcium bentonite into sodium with NaF is made and the factor which can affect the effect of the modification is studied .The optimum process conditions for sodium-ionization of dry process and wet process are obtained by using orthogonal table .The specimens are made under the optimum process conditions and the properties of them are tested. The result prove the wet process of modification with NaF is better than dry process ,and the optimum process condition is obtained with controlling the addition of NaF ( 10%), the temperature I(450C),and reaction time (0.5h).The optimum process condition of organic bentonite with five different quatemary ammonium salt is obtained .the process is executed using orthogonal table. The properties of organic bentonite is investigate by XRD ,FTIR and TGA. Three kinds of organic bentonite were prepared with SOD,DOD and TOD respectively. The effect of the numbers of hydrocarbon chain on the structure of organic bentonite was investigated.
