Carboxymethyl Hydropropyl Cellulose (CMHPC) is an important thick material, which having better solubility and the salt resistance than Carboxymethyl Cellulose (CMC).This paper is devoted to the synthesis and characterization of CMHPC, including three parts of cellulose alkalizatio^ etherization and characterization mainly.In this paper, there discuss the synthesis progress and influence factors as the concentration of alkali solution, temperature and time etc. And get their Figs and better process is alkali solution 16%-18% temperature 20-30 , time 20min; Besides, it has also shown the relations between structure and solubility performance for the water solution and salt solution. With these results, it is easy for us to synthesize the products with different DS and MS, the better process is temperature 78癈 ,time 120min> alkali solution 45% or so; and the salt resistance is good to apply to thick agent.The integrated properties of the CMHPC synthesized by our lab were close to that of the imported product and better than that of the domestic product. The results of this paper provide the theoretical basis and experimental data for production of industrial.
