In this research , many kinds of polymer/ montmorillonite nanocomposites have been prepared by melting-extrusion-compound. Nano-montmorillonite is modified by oneself. Micro-structure and properties of these nanocomposites have been studied.Using alkylamine as modifier, the organic modification of montmorillonite has been succeeded. And the main factors which influence modification of montmorillonite, were thoroughly studied and summarized in detail. Then an optimum modifying scheme was made out. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) results illustrate that the crystallized interlayer space of montmorillonite was expanded from 1.5nm to 1.7nm. The intercalating rate of modifier was 27.3wt%. Fourier-Trandformed Infrared Spectroscopy(FT-IR) also shows that modifier has been between layers.A series of polyamide/montmorillonite nanocomposites were prepared by melting extrusion method in two-screwed extruder at first. The results of Transmission Electron Microscope(TEM) show most layers were homogeneously disperserd in matrix in monolayer (even multilayers were revealed, their thickness was less than 20nm ). Exfloited nanocomposites were successfully synthesized.The study of melting compound about PET EVA ABS PVC CPE and montmorillonite has been carried out. we abtained several intercalated nanocomposites, TEM shows the interlayer spacing is no more than 100nm.The mechanical properties of polyamide/montmorillonite nanocomposites have relevantly been found superior in tensile strength , modulus and yield strength, especially copolyamide/montmorillonite nanocomposites, And agreed with the TEM analysis of their microscopic structure. The results of DSC show thatThe crystallization of nanocomposites are different from pure matrix; i.e. the peak of crystallization become narrower and the crystallinity is raised.These factors which influence polymer intercalation have been studied, stepped dispersing theory of the melting intercalation compound with montmorillonite and polymer was first raised, and a visual dispersing model was set up.
