The microstructure together with the formation and growth of reaction phases in the interfacial diffusion zone of the colding roll cladding Al-Cu > St-Al bimetallic sheets under diffusion annealing conditions has been investigated by means of XRTJK OM and EPMA techniques. Effect of different annealing processes on the composition N structure and properties of the bonded area was discussed.When Al-Cu specimen is heat-treated at the conditions of 300-500癈 in holding time 5min~5h, the intermetallic compounds of Cu9Al4,CuAl2 with lay structure may form intergranalarly. The CuAl2 decease the bonded properties, but the Cu9Al4 increse bonded properties. When St-Al specimen is heat-treated at the conditions of 5 00-600C in holding time 5min~5h, the intermetallic compounds of Fe2Al5 with lay structure may form intergranalarly. The Fe2Al5 decease the bonded properties. There are a breed phase before the intermetallic compounds produced between the Al-Cu > St-Al diffusion joined interface.The growth of intermetallic compounds belong to parabolic law. The growth of intermetallic compounds kinetics model was primary built.
