Two-photon absorption (TPA) materials have arisen great interests due to their application in two-photon fluorescence microscopy, 3D data storage, micro- fabrication, photodynamic therapy and laser up-converted materials. Based on the investigations of tremendous literatures, we have designed and synthesized a series of new compounds with D-jr-D structure, and systemically researched their linear and non-linear properties. The thesis includes four chapters:In the first chapter, the latest researched developments of TPA materials in the world were reviewed. Two-photon polymerization initiators were selected as our main research target. Meanwhile, the relationship between structures and properties were explored. In the second chapter, the possibilities of Schiff base compounds working as TPA materials were explored. Two types molecule with D-jt-D structure were synthesized by the condensation of aldehyde with p-phenylenediamine and hydrazine hydrate. The influences of substituted groups and conjugations system on TPA properties were studied based on experiments and theoretical calculations. In the third chapter, five molecules of styrene derivatives were synthesized by Wittig reaction using diphenyldiphosphinium salts and aldehydes, which were then successfully applied to initiate polymerization reaction and obtained three-dimension microstructures.
