Two-photon absorption materials which have D-π-D and D-n-A linear structure are of great importance in the history of two-photon materials' researches and development. In our researches, five kinds of two-photon absorption materials: DPSB, DBSB, DMSB of D-π-D structure and DPASVB, DBASVB of D-π-A structure were synthesized experimentally, their linear and nonlinear properties are characterized and analyzed.Since the emergence of waveguide gratings in 1970, its tremendous potential applications in integrated optics have attracted researchers' attention greatly. In later decades, with the improvement of materials and techniques, the development of waveguide gratings has reached a new level. Because the two-photon initiated polymerization has good capacity in three dimensional selection and laser transmission, the application of two-photon initiated polymerization has been studied extensively in recent ten years. Applications such as two-photon absorption optical power limiting, three dimensional optical data storage, three dimensional fluorescence microscopy and micro-machines, laser devices, photodynamic therapy etc. have been carried out continually. Here a new method of preparing polymeric waveguide grating through initiator of two-photon absorption materials was proposed: First, waveguide film composed of oligomer, waveguide materials and initiator was prepared by spinning method, and then through the controlled moving of the stage, the film is made to form a refractive index periodic modulate planar waveguide grating using femto-seconde proceeding system. Following this method, using poly (methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as waveguide materials and CN970E60, CN965 of Sartomer company as oligomer, polymeric waveguide grating was prepared.
