Water-soluble crude polysaccharide has been extracted by acid from corn cob. G.C. analysis indicated that it contained glucose (Glc), xylose (Xyl) and galactose (Gal), and its molar ratio is 17.05: 3.27: 1.00. The crude polysaccharide has been fractionated by ethanol. Three fractions: CCA, CCB, CCC were got respectively. CCC deproteinizationed by the combined methods of enzyme and Sevage, purified by Sepharose CL-6B gel filtration. So CCCP was got. By gel filtration on Sepharose CL-6B and DEAE - Sephadex A-25 test, CCCP was a single strait Symmetry apex. The identification of purify implies that CCCP was respectively uniform on molecular weight and polarity.CCCP is a gray substance. G.C. analysis indicated that CCCP was composed of Glc, Xyl and Gal and its molar ratio is 4.40: 2.65: 1.00.Hydrolysis with amylase and hydrolysis with fibrin enzyme, partial hydrolysis with acid were used on the structure-analyse of CCCP , also Smith degradation, I.R, G.C, methylation analysis etc were used. Methylation production were hydrolyzed, deoxidize, then analyzed by G.C. -M.S.The results revealed that CCCP is a kind of lowly branched structure. The main chain is mainly made up of (1-3) -linked -Xyl and a few residues are substituted at 4-O. The side chain is composed of (1--4) -linked-Glc , (1-3)-linked-Glc, (1-6) -linked-Glc and (1-3) -linked-Gal, (1 - 6) -linked-Gal. Some of the (1-4) -linked-Glc and (1 - 3) -linked-Gal residues are substituted at 6-O. On average, there is 1 branch among 10 main resides. The nonreduced end is composed of Xyl, Glc and Gal.
