As a kind of industrial wastewater, waste drilling mud and drilling wastewater has become one of most severe pollution sources, whose effect on enviroment has been concerned gradually. Therefore, the Changqing Oil Field decided to study the method of treatment on them. Based on the analysis of water quality of waste drilling mud and drilling wastewater, chemical flocculation and chemical enhanced solid-liquid separation were adoped to treat them. Through a series of experimental research, an effective treatment agent was selected and make the quality of out-water attain integrated wastewater discharge standard (GB8978-1996)(II).Furthermore, two theorical problems related to this project were studied in this paper. In the first place, the effect of acid on stability of waste drilling mud and inorganic flocculant was studied , which also was analysed theorically. Secondly, the function of PAM, blending drug sequence and molecular weight of PAM in the synergistic action between inorganic and organic flocculant were studied. Conclusions in this section is important to flocculation research.
