Fault Diagnosis Expert System can take the best advantage of the experiences accumulated by the experts in the field and help workers find out the faults of machines with the aid of computer in which Fault Diagnosis Expert System was installed, so it is no doubt that it will have a strong life and a bright application future. Reciprocating Compressor is an important common machine which is widely used in industry. On the basis of the basic knowledge of Reciprocating Compressor and Expert System, and with the tool of C/VC++ language, the author in the thesis do many tries in the construction of Knowledge-Base for Fault Diagnosis Expert System of Reciprocating Compressor and the diagnosis method of Power- indicating Chart for Reciprocating Compressor, which can help workers quickly find out the complicated faults in Reciprocating Compressor.The construction of Knowledge-Base is very difficult and it is the key job in the construction of a Fault Diagnose Expert System. Because of its complicated construction and moving, it is more hard to construct a Knowledge-Base for Fault Diagnose Expert System for Reciprocating Compressor. So in the thesis the author try to construct it on the basis of Linked List Data Structures with the steps as follow: at first, with the aid of Fault-Tree, analyzing carefully the rough Fault Diagnose knowledge from the experts in the field so as to find out the logic relationships between them. Then construct a Two-dimensional Table with four columns (fault number, fault name, fault reasons and treat methods respectively) on the basis of Fault-Tree Analyzing. At last, a series of nodes can be constructed according to the Two-dimensional Table and the Linked List can be made on the basis of these nodes. We can finish the construction of the Knowledge-Base from these Linked List and maintain it through the adding, deleting, and modifying of the nodes of the Linked List. Obviously, it is more easier to construct and maintain this kind of Knowledge-Base compared with that based of Tree Data Structure.For Reciprocating Compressor, its faults from Thermodynamic performance is more than those from mechanical performance. On the other hand, some of its faults from mechanical performance can be displayed by its changes of thermodynamic performance. At the same time, the faults from thermodynamic performance can be shown from Power- indicating Chart, so it becomes very important for the diagnosis of Reciprocating Compressor. The author carried out the diagnosis function of Power-indicating Chart with the tool of VC++ language at last.
