The polymers(PEMA) were prepared by anionic polymerization in the inert gas atmosphere, using n-BuLi or DPHL as initiators, LiCl or LiClO4 as additives. The polymers(PEMA) were characterized by Fourier transformation infrared(FT-IR), nuclear magnetic(NMR) and gel permeation chromatography(GPC). Mechanism of the anionic polymerization of ethyl methacrylate was investigated . The effects of solvents, initiators, additives and temperature on the anionic polymerization of ethyl methacrylate were discussed in detail. It showed that the anionic polymerization of ethyl methacrylate in tetrahydrofuran(THF) at -5℃ using DPHL as an initiator in the presence of LiClO4 led to the polymer with good control of molecular weight and relatively narrow molecular weight distribution( Mw/ Mn =1.05). At last, the application perspective of the polymers was predicted by the determination of glass transition temperature and the study of degradation properties of the polymers.
