The technology of high speed electromagnetic roll-casting is a new developing direction of the technical development of roll-casting of aluminium alloy. At present, it is still in basic research stage, listed in the program of nation's 863. In the paper, some of the important constant of this subject is developed.Inductor and roller shells which play an important role in the course of roll-casting are the key parts of the technology of high speed electromagnetic roll-casting. Fully making use of the magnetic field of the electromagnetic inductor, discussing the influence of materials of roller shell to the magnetic flux density of roll-casting zone and choosing material of roller shells which is more helpful to intensify magnetic field are immediate questions to be solved. The main task of the subject is to investigate the electromagnetic inductor and experimentally study the influence on the difference of magnetoconductivity of roller shell's material to the magnetic flux density of the roll-casting zone.In the cause of designing the electromagnetic inductor, the relatively rational result by carrying on a great deal, repeated calculation and checkout to the electromagnetism parameter of electromagnetic inductor was accomplished. In this paper, parameters are further optimized, the design process is simplified and the computer-aided design program isalso developed. Results of function carried on test indicate to the finished electromagnetic inductor to make every design parameter of inductor reach project index that contract stated.In this paper, another important task was done, which the influence of alloy steel roller shell and new material roller shell to the magnetic field of electromagnetic inductor was found out by experiments. Meanwhile, it was found that the magnetic flux density gained under the condition of the alloy steel roller shells is about 10% higher than that gained under the condition of the new material roller shells.In order to illuminate this phenomenon above-mentioned theoretically, in this paper, based on the theory of attenuation and shield effect of electromagnetic wave in propagating media, the attenuation of electromagnetic field in inductor under roller shell was studied. Studies showed that: the magnetism loss circuit resulted from the roll and roller shells is one of the important reasons that make electromagnetic inductor's magnetic field distorted and weaken the magnetic flux of roll casting zone. On the other hand, ferromagnetic alloy steel roller shell makes magnetic force line produce skew, as a result, the magnetic force line of inductor that partly dispersed into the roll casting zone can be centralized, and counteracts the reduce of magnetic flux because of roller shell's attenuation effect. Compared with the magnetism of the new material roller shell, it can increase the magnetic flux density in rollcasting zone about 10%.The results of experiments and theoretic analyzed above-mentioned has corrected a former familiar viewpoint in this research scopes, that is "'the paramagnetic new material roller shell was helpful to intensify magnetic field of roll casting zone". It is in favor of researchers that they can design the system of electromagnetic inductor exactly and ascertain the system of work parameters reasonably.
