The optical characteristic of nano- TiO2 was studied in this thesis. This thesis theoretically explained the absorption mechanism of nanophase materials. The influence of the morphology of nanoparticles on its properties of electromagnetic wave absorption was analyzed. On the experiment, we fulfilled nano-coating's design and execution. The structure of the powders was studied by XRD and TEM. Using UV-VIS spectroscopy, the optical properties of the powders have been researched, the results show that the UV-VIS absorbing sides shift to higher frequencies when the grain-size becomes smaller. The optical properties of the powders were studied by IR spectroscopy, the results show that, with the grain-size become smaller, the IR absorbing sides of the powders shift to both lower frequencies and higher frequencies; With increase of Fe203 content, the absorption peaks of the TiO2/Fe2O3 extend, nano-TiO2 coating's transmitity characteristic was studied, and analyzed various effects to coating. The intension of this thesis is to through measuring the optic characteristic of nano-materials, find the more excellent point compare with routine materials, and provide the experimental basis for application of nano-materials. The measuring result indicated that it is viable to preparation the coating in the way of compounding the adhesive and nano-particulate. If keeping improved, it can be successfully used as the materials of screening radiation.
