Both the optics characteristic of nano-ZnO and the absorption properties of nano-ZnO coat have been studied in this paper. At first, we introduced the preparation method and the testing instrument of nano-ZnO. The absorption mechanism of electromagnetic wave for nanophase materials is analyzed. Then, we acted experiment to study optics characteristic of nano-ZnO, including presenting the particle-size and the shape of nano-ZnO powder by XRD and AFM method, analyzing UV-Vis spectrum, IR spectrum and photoluminescence spectrum of nano-ZnO. The results show that the keen UV-absorption extent is wide and UV-absorption sides shift to higher frequencies when the particle-size becomes smaller; Vis-absorptivity is poor; With the particle-size become smaller, the IR-absorption sides shift to lower frequencies and IR-absorption extent become wider. And we researched the ultraviolet random laser of Nano-ZnO.On the basis of theoretic research, we studied the optics absorption characteristic for nano-ZnO coat by special experimentation. The measuring results indicated that absorbance is affected by various factors such as particle-size and the shape of nano-ZnO,temperature condition,laser wavelength, compound design between varnish and nano-ZnO,etc. Further more,we find the inherent cause for the forementioned different absorbance. So we can provide the experimental and theoretical basis for application of nano coat.
