In this dissertation, we studied mainly on solid state syntheses and structural characterizations of the chalcogenides. Intermediate temperature reactive flux method has been used in our experiment. The results of reactions are influenced by many factors, including reactant mole ratio, reaction temperature, heating program, and so on.The compounds obtained by reactive flux method always have low-dimensional structure(one- and two-dimensional). These materials are often in thermodynamically metastable state , and Q-Q bonds and M-M bonds are often found. One quaternary new chalcogenide crystal, K2Hg3Ge2Se8 , has been synthesized. Some others new ternary crystals ,such as K2GeSe3 , KHg3Se6, KTiSe10, KZrSe5 K2SbSe3,K4CuSe6,K6TiSe12, K3ZrSe6, have been synthesized. The crystal structure of K2Hg3Ge2Se8 have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction.K2GeSe3 is a yellow film-like crystal. It can't be determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction because of it's little size. K2Hg3Ge2Se8 dark-red lump-like crystal , crystal system : orthorhomic; space group '. Aba2(No.41),a=19.851(2)A,b=10.0040(7)A,c=8.6097(7)A,V=1709.8(3) A3,Z=4, Rl/wR2=0.0562/0.1261.
