The PVC paste blending resin is a kind of suspension polymerized resin with spheric particle morphology, high apparent density and low oil absorption. It is mainly applied to the PVC paste products and can be partly substituted for the paste resin. According to our national status, the study of polymerization method of PVC paste blending resin with usual dispersant agents (PVA, HPMC), particle adjustants and proper agitation was made in 30 litre polymerization kettle and the homopolymerized PVC paste resin was prepared. The particle morphology, particle radium and its distribution, rheological property and gelation of plasticized paste were systematically studied. The results showed that the particles appeared spheric morphology; the aggregates were closely piled up in the intral particle with low porosity and the graph of particle distribution had a single peak. The addition of blending resin can greatly decrease the visocity and dramatically increase the store stability of plasticized paste. In addition, the blending resin can increase the gelation temperature of plasticized paste and the latter went up with the increase of the former. On the basis of the application study, polymerization recipe and technology were optimized with novel dispersant system, compound particle adjustant system and agitation form. The properties of homopolymerized resin were close to the targets of the same kind products of Japan. The VCM and VAc copolymerized blending resin was prepared for the first time in China. The experiments for homopolymerized blending resin were made in 4m3 kettle and the properties of the products approched those of the international advanced products.The characters of the PVC blending resin were disclosed by the preparation and study of the structure and properties of PVC paste blending resins, which lay foundation on the mass production of the novel resin and gave the direction to the development and application of the products.
