Ductile Iron Castings Shrinkage Defect Influencing Factors

Shrinkage and dispersed shrinkage are the special waster of ductile iron .Foundrymen have maken a lot of research works to shrinkage and dispersed shrinkage, and gained important success during the past few years. This article reviews the research work of ductile iron's solidification and shrinkage characteristics, discusses the volume change of ductile iron during solidification, and discusses the effect of the metallurgy factor to the melted iron volume's change. I analyses the shrinkage and dispersed shrinkage's forming mechanism of ductile iron, and gained a sort of research successes about metallurgy and technics factor's effect to the shrinkage and dispersed shrinkage. I have maken a series of special sample pieces, and researched the shrinkage characteristics of solidification on the metallurgy and technics factor, and drawn a certain rule. At the same time , using the consulting informations and research successes, and considering the fact, I have discussed the shrinkage and dispersed shrinkage's cause of HONDA YA GE turning section casting(ductile iron), and put forward to preventing the shrinkage and dispersed shrinkage's measure, and received a good effect.
