Following the theme of the second international cashmere inspection and technique conference, this study focuses on the quality change or variability of cashmere fiber (the appearance diversification to wool). As we all know, with the optimizing and development of cashmere breeds, and also with the environmental effect, it is unavoidable for cashmere fiber getting some change on its appearance. So further efforts still should be made on the research especially on the viewpoint of 5% variability rate in GB/T18267. With this aim we carry out the study with the help of microscope and computer, then discriminate the variability of cashmere fiber by means of K-Means cluster and both factor analysis and K-Means cluster. This thesis illustrates this whole process including some related information.Based on former research, this study makes some exploration by using statistic analytical method after obtaining parameter data reflecting the fiber and its spuama character. As a result, the variation space interval of cashmere fiber turns out to be 12.0%~18.67%, the average 15.33%.The main three physical index are: squama density(70.91~94.30/mm)\ squama relative token area\(11.62~15.38um)\squama relative area(l1.29~16.42um).From final analysis, the above-mentioned method can serve as a researching way of the theory in identifying pure cashmere. Furthermore, we hold that in order to protect the cashmere market and increase the economic benefit of cashmere industry, we should strengthen to push forward the establishment of pure cashmere fiber standard in China.
