In this thesis, two new non-formaldehyde flame retardants named QFR-051 and QFR-052 for cotton fabrics were designed and synthesized. These flame retardants are organophosphorous compounds with reactive group -OH, -CHO or -COOCO-. There is no formaldehyde in flame retardants and treated cotton fabrics.QFR-051 contains elements of phosphorous and nitrogen. And it is reactive due to -OH and -CHO, with a phosphorous content of 14.6%. Structure , condition of synthesis and process of reaction was analyzed in this thesis. Process of synthesis and application of QFR-051 is simple. And it can be applied to cotton fabric without crosslinking agents through padding, drying and curing process. Char length of cotton fabric treated with QFR-051 after 20 times washing was about 9.3cm, and its' breaking strength and tearing strength retention are fairly good.QFR-052 is a reactive organophosphorous compound with a phosphorous content of 14.9%. It can be used with crosslinking polycarboxylic acids such as 1,2, 3, 4-butanetetracarboxylic acid (BTCA) and citric acid (CA) through ordinary padding, drying and curing process. Char length of finished cotton fabric was about 12.4cm after 5 times washing.QFR-051 is durable to 20 times washing, so it can be used as a durable flame retardant. QFR-051 is durable to 5 times washing, and it is half-durable. But strength and whiteness of cotton fabric decreased after finishing with these two flame retardants, further research is desirable.Synthesis and application of these two non-formaldehyde flame retardants can be a new direction of future development of non-formaldehyde flame retardants. |
